Yesterday Graham and I went to Grill Nights at the Highland Springs Resort / 123 Farm in Cherry Valley, CA. They’re known for their lavender fields; TONS of different varieties of lavender, some I’ve never even heard of (like Melissa). Can’t wait for the Lavender Festival next month!

Yesterday Graham and I went to Grill Nights at the Highland Springs Resort / 123 Farm in Cherry Valley, CA. Brats, Honey Balsamic Glazed kebobs, corn, potato salad, and more.

(Need to make that chicken sometime, but I didn’t taste balsamic; tasted like honey-rosemary-lavender, which was still awesome!)

U.S. Marine Corps Sergeant Adam Leigh Cann, age 23 of Davie, Florida, was killed in action on January 5, 2006 by a suicide bomb attack in Ramadi, Iraq. Sgt. Cann and his bomb-sniffing German Shepherd, Bruno were working security and crowd control at an Iraqi police recruiting center. Bruno alerted on a suspected target in the crowd. Sgt Cann confronted a male suspect and discovered he was wearing a vest of explosives. Sgt Cann immediately threw himself into the terrorist as he detonated the vest. Sgt. Cann was killed instantly and Bruno was wounded. Sgt Cann’s gave up his life to save the lives of fellow Marines standing nearby and was awarded the Bronze Star for Valor. Bruno recovered from his wounds and remained on active duty. Sgt Cann was the first Military K9 Handler killed in combat since the Vietnam War ended in 1975.

My dad is notorious for giving the longest-winded and complicated answers to things. Sometimes it’s awesome. Like this, explaining baking soda -> washing soda to me…

Sci-FI NES Games from a Parallel Dimension

ianbrooksWe were unfortunate enough to live through such horrible movie-licensed games like Robocop, Total Recall, and E.T. (or as we usually refer to it: That Game Which Shall Not Be Named), but perhaps somewhere in an alternate timeline where good things happened and people knew how to make good movie-based vidya gaemz, we could have had such instant classics like “They Live!” (with real 3D glasses action? Give me that) and MST3K (do you play the movie they’re watching, or just Press A to quip?)

I like the new Disney-themed Lego remodel at the Downtown Disney Lego store location. These pics were taken the second day the new look premiered!
